The Wood Family: ONE!

Our little baby turned ONE year old July 2. My, how this year has flown. It's been full of joys and challenges, but sweet Harper has added so much love and happiness to our little family. She adores her big sister, and I can honestly say the feeling is pretty mutual. It seems like she went from the baby stage to quickly acting more like a big girl. I guess it's because she constantly has Payton to follow around. These pictures were taken a few weeks ago one evening when we were just outside playing. It's so much fun now that she can really join in on the fun.

Some updates on our little girl at 12months:

Size: I weighed our little bit on our scale at home and she was 18.2 lbs. She is definitely pretty thin. Her face has gotten so slim especially since she has been walking. She is still in size 3 diapers and wearing 12 month clothes. She stopped taking a bottle a few weeks ago and it was actually a much easier transition than I feared. We took it away cold turkey and put her on whole milk. The worst part was at nighttime, but a few nights of crying a little and it has gotten better.

Eating: This girls LOVES to eat. That's really an understatement. Just this month she has starting pitching a fit if she sees food that someone is not giving to her. She will throw out in the floor until you get the message that is what she wants. She is in the process of cutting her two top teeth, but she has handled it all pretty well with just those bottom two until now. I would say her favorites are strawberries, bananas, multi-grain cheerios, chicken (really any type of meat), bread, etc. I joke that she is a meat and bread kind of girl. Her very favorite is probably fruit, but she will also eat just about any type of meat. She will eat veggies (broccoli, peas, green beans, carrots) but you have to give them to her first before she eats anything else. Otherwise she won't touch them.

Tricks: She is walking at lightening speeds these days. I am pretty sure she can reach the steps at the porch at the lake in 1.5 seconds before she gets to the edge. She has just recently learned how to wave by opening and closing her hand, not just waving her whole arm. She is babbling still, but not making many words. We were working with her to show us how old she was going to be by holding up one finger. It's pretty hit or miss.

Sleeping: Our sleeping schedule has been a little crazy these past few weeks. With it being summer, we tend to stay out/up a little later, and our busy days have led to skip a few naps here and there. Sometimes I think she is ready for just one good long nap a day, and then others she is ready to go down at 8:30 in the morning. It all depends on what we are doing and how busy she is staying. After a few days of one nap (about 3 hours long) she will take two good long naps the next day. All in all, it just varies and she goes with the flow as much as possible.

Her hair has continued to grow and get a little darker. We have even put a bow in it a few days but it doesn't stick around for very long. At this point with Payton a bow was mandatory to keep it out of her face.
