A quarter of a year...really? Harper's tricks and personality reveal themselves more and more each day. Smiles seem to come easier, she follows our voices in a room, and she loves watching her sister play. I don't really know where to begin with updates on what's going on at 3 months.
We put her on 5 ounces right when she turned 2 months. That is still what we are fixing in her bottle, but depending on her mood, she may take only 2! She went through this stage on and off over the past month. That is a major difference between Payton and Harper. I never remember Payton not finishing a bottle. If you gave it to her, it was gone. She never spit up, so it was always hard to tell if she was getting too much. Harper on the other hand, if she's not interested, she's not having it. She goes in phases where she doesn't want to eat, then at other times we can't seem to feed her enough. I guess the most important thing is that she is letting us know when she wants it, and she seems to make up for any lost feedings with the growth spurt (or whatever is sparking her interests) may come. Right around her 3 month birthday, she rolled over from her back to stomach. Since I'm late posting this, she is now actually rolling both ways. She has just really started that in the past week and is now such a rolly polly. If you put her in the floor to play, she is over within seconds. She has never been a fan of tummy time, so I think it just took some frustration to get her to roll back over. It is much easier for her to go from back to stomach, but she can make it the other way if she's very determined. She also found her feet in the past few weeks.
I still can't say she's on a set napping schedule, but she definitely loves to nap in the swing. I guess at some point we will try to transition that to the crib, but we will get there. When I went back to work she was 10 weeks and she was sleeping around 7 hours straight each night. The second week I was back at work she came down with what we are guessing was just a nasty virus. Poor thing couldn't keep an ounce of milk in her for 10 minutes without...well, ya know. A week of hardly eating anything and a terrible diaper rash kind of set her back in the sleeping department. She was waking up throughout the night with dirty diapers and simply didn't feel well. It was pitiful to see her so helpless. We have been very blessed that Payton has been a very healthy child, and it just breaks our hearts to see them like that (especially with her being so young). It took about a week to recover from that, and then she was ready to make up for all of the lost feedings she missed the previous week. She was waking every four hours or so to eat. Hopefully we are swinging back and will get back into good sleeping and eating habits. While it has been exhausting with all of this going on and working, I truly cherish the special moments in the middle of the night when I get to see her sweet smiles and cuddle for a little while. She is still being swaddled at night, but has been breaking out most nights so we will see how that goes the next few weeks. Overall, we are just loving having this sweet girl as a part of our family and can't remember what life was like without her.
