6 month stats

Payton had her 6 month appointment yesterday and everything went great. Well, except for the FIVE shots she had to get! Our big girl now weighs 16 lbs. 8oz (60th percentile), 27 3/8 in. long (95th) and her head is 17.5 in. (95th)! We (I mean she) recovered pretty well from the trauma of all of the shots. I must admit I was quite paranoid of taking her into the swine flu infested doctors office, but hopefully we didn't catch any funk.

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

Our baby girl was 1/2 year old on Friday! Our thoughts? You've got to be kidding, there is no way she is 6 months old already!

But, it has been the best six months of our lives! Her personality has really emerged and we are loving it! She has two teeth on the bottom, and ready to sprout another one any day now. She loves to smile and laugh, but will also let you know when she's not happy. In my family I am a bit notorious for the high "C" as my grandmother likes to call it, and I think it's fair to say that Payton has inherited that from me. She holds her breath for a good 10 seconds and lets out the loudest scream you've ever heard, exactly the same way my entire family tells about me.

Mollie still won't have too much to do with her. This picture is about as close as your normally find them. The only reason she even got this close was because she wanted to share the sheet. Payton thinks it is hilarious when we play rope with Mollie.

These smiles brighten my day!

I know I say this every month, but I can't believe how fast the time is flying by. It will be her 1st birthday before we turn around.

You know it's been a rough day when...

you fall asleep in the middle of dinner!

p.s. Does it make me a bad mom for letting her stay like this?

Back to life, back to reality

Well, summer is officially over and I am back at school. This summer has been absolutely wonderful. I can't say that I've done anything extremely productive or even exciting for that matter (besides Vegas at the beginning of the summer), but it has been just what I needed. It's not fun to leave this sweet little face everyday,

but I am very optimisitc for a great year. I think it is such a blessing to have a job that you get to start fresh every year, and let me tell you, after last year I needed that opportunity. All this to say, I wouldn't have traded this summer with Payton for anything in the world. While it's very hard to leave her, I am counting my blessings that I have a great job.

Cousins

Payton and Ella played together all afternoon. The girls were so good, and had such a good time. I got them to pose for a quick picture (actually they were staring at the tv behind me, but I take what I can get).

Ella was so sweet to share her juice with Payton!

She also showed her how to play on her really cool toy that she let us borrow!

She even taught Payton how to read while she was here!

Ella, tell your mommy and daddy to send you back ANYTIME!

I just couldn't resist posting this picture from this afternoon. There is nothing better than an afternoon nap on a rainy Sunday.

Sips-n-Strokes

I went to Sips-n-Strokes last week with a few friends. It was so much fun, and I must admit, I was pretty proud of my masterpiece when it was all said and done. Considering my artistic ability (or lack there of) I even surprised myself. If you haven't been, you definitely should go!

What do you think?

I actually do agree, but I think it probably says this for everyone.
